[sungki scrapes some guac to the side, because he still isn't wild about the avocado in it. he glances up at him.]

[ Hunter chews a little slower and thinks about that.

His head tips a bit and his brow furrows. ]

Technically we’re gender-less so…yeah. I just…

[ he actually pouts a little. ]

Wow. How come I haven’t tried doing that yet?

Because misogyny is a disease and the patriarchy has no desire to find the cure.

[sungki is a feminist, apparently. he pours a little of the salsa onto his rice.]

But there's no reason that you can't in our own home. [he smiles slowly as he chews.] I could teach you a few things.

[ He watches the Salsa being poured onto the rice, and then looks up to watch Sungkis face. ]

[it's nearly a tease. hunter's expression already looks too intrigued.]

[ That - makes him smile. There were insecurities on the tip of his tongue: what if he wasn’t pretty? What if he really did hate it? What if….what if….

But…Sungki loves him no matter what.

[when the waiter checks on them, sungki makes his move to order dessert. every single one of them.

the waiter clarifies this twice before hurrying to the kitchen.]

I don't think I said it, but. Thank you. For tonight.

[he needed this. not just the food but everything.]

I don’t know about that but I don’t think I’ll hate it either.

[ Hunter idly chews on a nacho, but he’s listening to Sungki and the waiter going back and forth. His eyes slide back and forth but inevitably fall on Sungki again when the waiter finally understands and heads off. ]

You mean getting you out of the house and away from our side family?

[ He softens a bit and tips his head one way and then the other. ]

You’re welcome. I like being with you — alone…anywhere. I should have done it sooner…

Exactly.

[it's muttered, and sungki rolls his eyes. but it's complicated. if he hated them - which he fully expected to - things would be a lot simpler. he could tell them all to 'fuck off' without a second thought.

but he doesn't. lavender is filled with a fae's innocent mischief. her 'baba' isn't much different. and baein...well, baein is a pain in his ass, but sungki knows that he's also a pain in baein's ass. that makes it almost fun.]

The wait made it more special. [it made him appreciate it. abut before he misunderstands:] Once a week from now on.

[ The fact that Sungki doesn’t just put up with all of them is not something that’s lost on Hunter. He’s noticed warmth in the fae’s eyes when Daeshim acts more like he used to, or when Lavender puts on her little fae shows…

…and the banter with Baein.

Sungki may be partially be putting up with all of them for his sake, but there’s more to it.

He hums, and reaches over to dip a chip in the Chile verde sauce from the others burrito. ]

Once out, but I want one night in like this, too. Just us. Deal?

[sungki]

[the shine of his eyes is a bit unnatural. they've struck an official fae bargain, the two of them.]

Actually, could I get the desserts to go? Thanks.

[this, asked of the waiter, who's going to get a very generous tip for his trouble.]

[adistraction]

[ Hunter makes a weird little noise when the others eyes shine like that and he keeps his mouth closed until Sungki speaks to the waiter. ]

Did making a deal just make you horny?

[sungki]

Yes.

[because he made a good deal. one that benefits him.

plus he still has dessert to look forward to.]

[adistraction]

[ …amused, he just shakes his head and goes for another nacho while they wait for the desserts to be boxed up. ]

I vow that my soul will always find yours, in any life or death of it.

[ a pause. ]

I like this place. We should come here again.

[sungki]

You know how binding a deal with a Fae is.

[there's teasing in his voice but fondness in his eyes when he looks up.]

Do you really believe that we have souls?

[adistraction]

[ Hunter tidies his little mess because he’s that patron. He knows it isn’t his job to clean up but he also isn’t an asshat. ]

No.

[ He looks up. ]

We are souls. We have bodies. There’s a difference.

[ He tilts his head thoughtfully… ]

All I am is a soul. Well, half of one.

[sungki]

[sungki definitely isn't that patron. he just leaves a tip big enough to make it worth their time. money still doesn't have much meaning to him but he also knows that the people who handle your food are best not crossed.

sungki hums at that, chin resting on his fist.]

Fae have no creator. We're energy, we return to energy. Maybe we can reform. Who knows?

[adistraction]

That’s all a soul is is energy.

[ Hunter leans forward, mirroring the fae. ]

Unlike humans, we don’t have a mental block. It’s why we’re able to use a hundred percent of what we’re capable of.

[ he smiles softly and motions between them, and his voice sounds incredibly fond. ]

We’re the same. Our energies can combine perfectly. They don’t fight against each other. They mix. Fuel.

[ When he leans back its playfully smug. ]

We were basically meant for each other.

[sungki]

[sungki listens to all that hunter says, arching his brow halfway through. it makes sense and he finds it oddly comforting.

but of course this is sungki here.]

That was so gay.

[he smirks, lifting one of the dessert bags.]

Let's go. I want to be eating this in bed an hour from now.

[adistraction]

I mean….

[ Hunter just gives Sungki a look as he stands up and grabs the other bags (yes, there’s more. Sungki ordered everything.) ]

It doesn’t take an hour to get home.
